Badaling Great Wall

八达岭长城

The easiest Great Wall to reach by high-speed train — and the most crowded.

Should I go? Locals say skip

Convenient — the high-speed train gets you there in about 40 minutes — which is exactly why it’s shoulder-to-shoulder at weekends and holidays. Locals only suggest it if you have half a day and no other option.

Better: Go to Mutianyu instead — similar views, a fraction of the crowd. Mutianyu Great Wall →
